The Victoria Conservatory of Music is the recognized core institution for all forms of classical music in Greater Victoria. This non-profit association was formed in 1964 and has since worked to support the teaching, learning and performance of music at all levels and to foster a thriving community of music lovers.

The Victoria Jazz Society is a local organization working to enrich the Jazz and Blues community. The Society produces two major music festivals each year; the Vancouver Island Blues Bash and the TD Victoria International Jazzfest, as well as a jam-packed concert series featuring artists from all over.

The Victoria Symphony is one of the largest performing arts organizations on Vancouver Island. Now in its 70th year of operation, the Symphony will produce more than 50 performances between September and May. Each year during the BC Day long weekend the Victoria Symphony presents the very popular Symphony Splash at Victoria's Inner Harbour.

The Early Music Society of the Islands (EMSI), founded in 1985, is a non-profit volunteer run society which produces concerts by internationally reknowned soloists and ensembles, as well as accomplished local musicians. The focus of the EMSI is to feature original instruments, historical performance practices and accurate scores.

New in 2011, the Victoria International Buskers Festival entertained folks with all sorts of free street performances, some of which were musical. This fun event is already scheduled to return in July of 2012, you should check it out next summer.
